We make Austin greater for a living. Join us to do some of the best work of your life.
We are proud to work in East Austin, a neighborhood known for its eclectic, historic and artistic scene. We are even prouder to have one of Austin’s most famous murals on our building, created by us and Creative Suitcase as a love letter to the city we call home. The Butter Half Mural has been the background for engagements, bachelorette parties, dog photoshoots—even a wedding!
We are surrounded by many of the best restaurants and food trucks in town, and take advantage perhaps too often. We are focused on giving back locally, which to us also means supporting the many small businesses near us. You can usually find a group of UWATX employees grabbing a drink at Bennu Coffee or Juiceland, or sitting down for a bite at El Chilito or Austin Daily Press.
Our building is a bit of a labyrinth. We moved in in 1981, and as we have grown so has our building. No, we don’t have pool tables or a fancy food court—but we do have lots of windows, outdoor picnic tables, all the caffeine you could want and friendly faces around every winding corner.
Together, we work hard, we laugh a lot, we constantly brainstorm new ways to make a meaningful difference and we eat a lot of breakfast tacos.
We bring together people of a wide variety of talents—grant writing, education, fundraising, marketing, finance, social services, VISTAS—all dedicated to improving life for every resident in Greater Austin.
We play well with others. We work with more than 200 business partners, as well as numerous other nonprofits, agencies, service providers and schools. You will have the chance to meet and collaborate with some of Austin’s most influential leaders and companies.
Our employees choose to work at UWATX because they love Austin and truly want to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives here. We are never satisfied with the status quo and work to improve the city one individual or family at a time.
We work incredibly hard at UWATX, but we also understand the importance of supporting a happy, healthy life/work balance. We have the technology in place to make telecommuting an option when needed.
We value our “No Meetings Fridays,” giving us the freedom to have at least one workday a week that is truly our own. We also value our casual dress code that matches the backdrop of our casual city.
We never stop learning. No matter your position or hierarchal level, we promote a culture that encourages you to constantly find ways to better yourself and the community, whether it is by attending a conference to exchange ideas or taking a class to learn new skills. All opinions are valued, from our president to our interns.
United Way for Greater Austin is designated as a Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite.
