United Way for Greater Austin runs one of the largest volunteer networks in Central Texas – Hands On Central Texas. The program strengthens our communities through meaningful volunteer action and strives to inspire, equip, and mobilize people to change lives through service.

We engage thousands of Central Texans in volunteerism annually and empower people to make volunteering a regular part of their lives. We run multiple Days of Service in the fall and spring, coordinate corporate team building projects and also connect individuals to volunteer opportunities.

Hands On Central Texas also runs a Volunteer Project Leader (VPL) training, aimed at sparking sustained, passionate community service. VPL training is a national training initiative that aims to transform casual volunteers into active community leaders by equipping them with leadership skills and tools they need to make meaningful and lasting change in their communities.
