Our Butter Half Home
Our office in East Austin is home to one of Austin’s most iconic murals, created in 2012 by Creative Suitcase as our love letter to the Austin community. Since 2012, thousands of visitors have taken pictures in front of the “You’re My Butter Half” mural – there was even a pop-up wedding in front of the mural one Monday afternoon! The mural is also the inspiration for the work we do every day… because Austin is truly our Butter Half.
Working the United Way
We can only fight poverty when we work together. It takes an entire team United behind a shared vision. As a team, we work hard, laugh a lot, and brainstorm new ways to make a meaningful difference. And we eat a lot of breakfast tacos. Join us to do some of the best work of your life.
Never stop learning
No matter your position, constantly find ways to learn and gain new perspectives and expertise.
Champion the mission
Prioritize work that advances the mission and positively impacts the community in a sustainable way.
Be a team player
Care for others and make them feel like family. Encourage others to participate to their fullest. Listen and communicate openly.

“I love that my role at United Way is all about connecting people – helping to get people out and about, meeting their neighbors, learning about the work we do all over the city, and strengthening our community! It feels good to be a part of something bigger than myself.”
Jordan Gutierrez-Ramirez, Corporate Volunteer Coordinator
“My time at United Way has been and continues to be a wonderful learning experience. Not only does the work itself provide a rich source of knowledge, but also connects me with folks who are dedicated and willing to do more than what is asked — and that is inspiring. I enjoy sharing with others all that United Way’s partnerships with community organizations have achieved.”
Marcela Ramirez, Community Integration Coordinator
“I am surrounded by amazing people! I truly value having such smart and compassionate colleagues to work with every day.”
Binta Winship, Behavioral Health Manager
