Expanding Access to High-Quality Pre-K
Pre-K Partnerships is a collaboration between local school districts and United Way for Greater Austin to support and expand access to high-quality full-day pre-K in our community.
In the Austin area, we partner with Austin ISD to serve children in PK-3 and PK-4; in the Round Rock area, we partner with Round Rock ISD to serve children in PK-3.
We partner with child development centers that are 3- and 4-star Texas Rising Star certified to deliver high-quality pre-K and provide centers with resources to help improve and sustain quality services for children. This support includes professional development and recruitment and co-enrollment of children – at both the center and ISD– to facilitate a smooth transition into Kindergarten on an Austin ISD or Round Rock ISD campus.

That’s why this partnership ensures children get a strong start in life and are ready to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond. Our youngest years are the most active period for brain development, a crucial time to lay a firm foundation for all future growth. What happens in these early years has a lasting impact from Kindergarten readiness to third-grade reading scores to high school graduation and beyond.
