Uniting the Community for Change
Since 1924, United Way for Greater Austin has been a powerful force for good and a critical part of the fabric of Austin. The needs in our region have changed over time, so we’ve adapted our support to stay ahead of emerging needs and help as many people as possible. What hasn’t changed? Our belief that every person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Success in life begins with a quality education. That’s why we ensure children get a strong start in life and are ready to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.
Ninety percent of all brain development occurs in the first five years of a child’s life. What happens in these early years has a lasting impact from Kindergarten readiness to third-grade reading scores to high school graduation and beyond.
A person’s zip code should not determine their access to quality healthcare. We connect people with affordable healthcare, healthy foods, and basic needs supports so everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
Families and individuals are facing financial obstacles that prevent them from reaching their full potential. We fight to ensure everyone in our community has the resources and opportunities they need to build a strong financial foundation and thrive.
All our work – from leading community coalitions, to funding nonprofit partners, to running evidence-based programs – is aligned to achieve these goals.
