UPDATE 6/8/15:
There are currently four Volunteer Reception Centers open in our area (Wimberley, San Marcos, Martindale, Blanco), serving as a central meeting point for volunteers to check-in and then be assigned a task such as clean-up or donation organization. At this time no end date has been scheduled for the volunteer centers.
The Volunteer Reception Centers are helpful since these are all-day opportunities, no pre sign-up required, and are often associated with multiple organizations and local government versus a single nonprofit.

Note: Volunteers wishing to volunteer at the Springtown Mall Donation Center must first register at the Volunteer Reception Center.

UPDATE 5/29/15: Please join us for a day of volunteering in Martindale in Caldwell County tomorrow morning (Saturday, May 30). Meet on at 3 Rivers Community Church on Main Street at 8 a.m. to help clean up the destruction caused by the recent floods.
Make sure to wear good, safe and heavy footwear and bring rubber gloves. If you are able to bring cleaning supplies (mops, bleach, paper products, etc.) and tools (i.e. shovels), that would be great as well–we hope to see you there!
This past weekend’s record-setting rains wreaked havoc on parts of Texas, with Hays and Caldwell Counties bearing the brunt. In response to the devastating floods, United Way for Greater Austin has set up a disaster recovery fund to assist those affected by the Memorial Day weekend floods. We are working with United Ways of Hays County, as well as local officials, to distribute these funds directly to those in need in the coming days, weeks and months.
Ways you can help:
- Support Central Texas flood recovery efforts by making a monetary donation here.
- Give by mobile to help your Hays County neighbors in need by texting FLOODS to 41444 to make a donation.
- Unable to make a monetary donation? Find out about volunteer efforts or how to donate non-monetary items by calling 2-1-1, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- We are collecting mops, brooms, Lysol spray and other cleaning items to help clean up affected homes. Please drop off any of these items at United Way for Greater Austin with our receptionist from 9-12 and 1-5 tomorrow (May 26). Hays County is completely sold out of these items already. If you stop by, take a photo in front of our Butter Half mural and tag us on social media!
